The word RAJASTHAN is driven from two words i.e. RAJA (means King) and STHAN (means place). These two words come together and create the word RAJASTHAN means the place of Kings. It is located at northern western region of India. Geographically, it is the largest state of India. Whereas in terms of population it stand at seventh position in all Indian states. Earlier it was known as Rajputana and scattered in different states. After independence of India, all these states came together and named Rajasthan by government of India. The region is world famous for its rich art, culture, history and heritage. Recently it comprises 33 districts and having Jaipur as it`s capital.

Rajasthan may be divided into four major regions like Mewar, Marwar, Dhoondhar, Shekhawati. MARWAR region is totally dry area. where one can find deserts like Jaisalmer, Bikaner Barmer and Jodhpur etc. National Desert Park is the one of the most famous tourist destination in this region. MEWAR region is hill area and mainly comprising Udaipur, Chiitorgarh Mount Abu and surroundings. In this region one can find the only hills station of the state named Mount Abu. Beside this lots of lake can be find in this region. Jaipur and its neighboring places are known as DHOONDHAR region, whereas SHEKHAWATI region mainly contains Sikar, Churu and Jhunjhune districts. In terms of tourism, Rajasthan is famous for its huge forts and precious palaces. One can easily find a palace or a fort after every 20-30 kms in this part of the country.

The key tourist destinations are Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Bikaner, Jaipur for their forts and palaces as they were huge and featured kingdoms at that time. Sawai Madhopur (Ranthambhore National Park), Bharat pur (Keoladeo National Park, Ghana Bird Sanctury), Alwar (Sariska Tiger Reserve) are known for its wild life tourism. Apart all these it`s also having some famous shrines like world`s only temple of lord Brhama in Pushkar, world`s only temple of Vibhishan (brother of Ravanand friend of lord Rama in Nathdwara, tomb of sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Hasan Chishti in Ajmer and many more. Many places of the state are recognized as World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Rajasthan is known for its brave heart emperors, who not only shown their courage to protect their kingdom but also loved the people and spread the harmony all over. The Famous cities of the states are as follows:

a) Jaipur (Pink City)

b) Jodhpur (Blue City)

c) Udaipur (White City)

d) Jaisalmer (Golden City)
